Furnishing your new flat in Mitcham

Aside from the the teeth-pulling conversations with energy companies and all the tedious comparison quotes, moving house is always an exciting time! A new home to turn into the perfect nest, a new area of side-streets to explore and a new chapter in your life to begin. It’s fun to walk into a new building and picture what you’re going to do with the space. What bits will fit where, what works, what doesn’t. And inevitably, what you’re going to need to get the place just how you want it.

No matter how many times you move, how organised you are or how helpful your family is, you always end up needing to purchase at least a few items when you move into a new place. Whether you’re a first time buyer, a renter itching for a bit more space, or downsizing to somewhere a bit more comfortable, chances are there will be a few things you need to buy to turn that house into a home. And it’s always handy to have a couple of good shops on your doorstep!

Furniture wise, Mitcham has a great selection of shops. Everything from the bargain hunters treasure trove the ‘British Heart Foundation’ (you can buy a first sofa from one of these stores for as little as £80!), to the uber-stylish ‘Dwell’ in nearby Croydon. You shouldn’t have to go far to find something close by that ticks the box!

This interior specialists is a great place to pick up furniture. They provide an established interior design service and sell a wide selection of new and second hand furniture at fair prices and even do specialist furniture restoration! So if your gran’s kindly given you her classic (albeit a bit battered) dining chairs, bring them here and ‘E & A Wates’ will restore them! ‘Posh Junk’ and ‘Grab Some Furniture’ are a couple of other places where it’s super easy to bag a bargain!

Electivo

The staff are humble, welcoming and wonderfully proud to be the kind of shop which rescues old, unused furniture and breathes life back into it again. You can find all manner of cute furnishings like distressed dressers, vintage curtains or farmhouse-style wooden dining tables. It’s a great place to have a mooch even if you don’t want to buy anything!

Exclusive Furniture World

If you’d prefer to purchase your furniture from a one-stop-shop kind of place, then Exclusive Furniture World is the one for you! They can practically kit out your entire home with matching wooden furniture which strikes that rare balance between sharp and cosy. As well as the standard 3-piece bathroom suite and ‘essential’ furniture, they also have a great selection of soft furnishings and those little, extra bits which make a house feel cosy. They have everything from funny signs to scatter cushions, to decadent chandeliers!

Now this is by no means an extensive list! Mitcham residents have lots of other shops perfect for kitting out your new home – and all within such easy reach! But at least here’s a few to get you started. Good luck with the shopping!
