“We completed our climb and Trek to base camp, it should of normally taken 11 hours we did it in 9,  every day was a minimum of 8 hours, in all honesty the hardest, coldest, sleep deprivation I have experienced!  50% less oxygen intake! Unable to wash for a number of days But we did it and what an experience we won’t forget.” 

Everest Base Camp trek is one of the most visited treks of Nepal

The trek was opened for recreation after the successful expedition of Sir Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay Sherpa in 1953. Since then, many trekkers and mountaineers have visited Everest Base Camp Trek.

The rivers and lakes carve their way through hills and valleys and every section of the route is a viewpoint of mountain peaks. Along with Mt. The Sagarmatha National Park is home to some of the most beautiful and rarest species in the world including the Bengal tiger. It is a perfect place for bird watching and to see new species of plants and flowers. Another major highlight of the trek is the Sherpa community that makes up the major part of the population living in this region.

The Sherpas have been guiding and hosting foreign visitors since 1921. Their culture is known to have been derived from the Tibetans and they have a unique lifestyle unlike any other people in the world. The Sherpa people are known for their hospitality and are very welcoming and friendly. The whole of the Everest region is a museum of Buddhist culture and extremely colorful. There are historic monasteries and Buddhist temples along the way.

The trek begins at the the Sagarmatha National Park and Namche Bazaar, the commercial and trading center in the Khumbu region. and continues to Kalapathar, the highest point of the trek which has the most magnificent view of Mt. Everest.
